Retailers have started listing a Limited Collector’s Edition of Alan Wake, possibly in advance of an official announcement later today at Microsoft’s X10 event. Both Best Buy and Wal-Mart have listings for the item, with an $80 price tag and a May 25 release date. Wal-Mart’s listing actually includes the image seen here, and details the contents of the set: a linen case “designed to resemble a hardcover book” (is this game a book or a TV show?), a 144-page book with a story written by Alan Wake and FBI dossiers included, a soundtrack disc, a token for the first DLC pack, and a disc with an Xbox Live theme and avatar.Update:
Microsoft has officially dated Alan Wake for release on May 18 and confirmed the Limited Collector’s Edition.
Splinter Cell Conviction’s collectors edition is due for release on 26th February for “all European, Middle Eastern, Asian and Pacific territories” will contain the following, including an exclusive gameplay mode.

Now take a look at this for what could be the collectors edition of the year! Going by the name of the “Prestige” edition it contains the usual items you’ve come to expect from Inifinity ward; Steel case, Art book, Downloadable content etc. However as you can see from the picture it also contains a full sized, working set of night vision goggles! This must surely be the coolest collectors item of the year. (You couldn’t even wear the Master Chief’s helmet that came with Halo 3 SE)

Currently slated for release around 10th November, so far the Prestige Edition has only been announced for Xbox 360.

Scheduled for release 28/08/09 Batman Collectors edition contents are revealed. It looks big and full of cool collectables including a 14″ Batarang! (I wonder if it works! )
There have been a few hints that the game may miss it’s release date, but these have not been confirmed by Eidos.

With EA recently announcing the lay off of over 1,000 employee’s its good to see something positive coming out of EA HQ. On the 2nd of June the long awaited SIMS3 is released complete with a collectors edition. With over 100 million sale of the Sims Series and spin offs this should be a major release for EA.

Must confess, the Plumbob looks interesting! I do like “useless” collectables like this, however I do have some reservations about Music from the SIMS 3… From memory Sims 1 and Sims 2 music was largely forgettable!
Sony announce a while back that Killzone 2 would not be getting a collectors/limited edition. One of the biggest PS3 games of 2009 with no collectors edition. Personally I thought this was a crazy idea, I was sure many other collectors out there were just a perplexed.
But, Sony has now back tracked… and Killzone 2 will get a limited edition released in some geographical regions, mainly Europe. However, there’s a catch. The so called limited edition is my personal pet hate, a Tin box. Just a tin box… ok so it’s not going to be much more expensive than the “standard” version but it appears you do not get any other extra’s. No making of DVD, now art work, nothing.
Sorry Sony that just plain sucks! Halo Wars CE for me this month!

Resident Evil 5 hits the stores 13th March 2008. The latest installation of the gripping series on next gen hardware.
