Killzone 2 | Collectors edition will arrive, but why bother Sony?

Sony announce a while back that Killzone 2 would not be getting a collectors/limited edition. One of the biggest PS3 games of 2009 with no collectors edition. Personally I thought this was a crazy idea, I was sure many other collectors out there were just a perplexed.

But, Sony has now back tracked… and Killzone 2 will get a limited edition released in some geographical regions, mainly Europe. However, there’s a catch. The so called limited edition is my personal pet hate, a Tin box. Just a tin box… ok so it’s not going to be much more expensive than the “standard” version but it appears you do not get any other extra’s. No making of DVD, now art work, nothing.

Sorry Sony that just plain sucks! Halo Wars CE for me this month!

Halo Wars Collectors Edition contents

The next full installment of the HALO franchise will be released Feb 09. Details of the Limited Edition have been released also. Who can forget the amazing CE edition of HALO3 complete with Master Chief replica Helmet.

Looks like Bungie have done it again, lots of content and great presentation.

The Limited Edition will include the following.

Three New Halo 3 Multiplayer Maps – Be one of the first to experience the Mythic Map Pack from Bungie which includes three new maps, Assembly, Orbital and Sandbox
Halo Wars: Genesis – a beautiful graphic novel by Phil Noto, Graeme Devine and Eric Nylund chronicling the first military campaign against the Covenant. The novel centers around the Sprit of Fire on a mission to discover why the Covenant are so interested in the world of Harvest
Unique In-game Vehicl – "Honor Guard" Wraith
Six Leader Cards – Leaders possess elite skills which can turn the tides of battle

Collectors Editions a good investment?

Interesting blog post over at VGPC.com regarding the resale value of collectors editions, seems they do offer better value for money….. and some may even reap you a handsome profit in the years ahead!

Empire: Total War special edition details released

Sega released details of Empire:Total War Special Edition. They are calling it the “Special forces Edition” as is brings a number of limited units to this edition.

“This premium packaged edition for aficionados of the Total War series comes complete with an illustrated campaign map and unique Steam unlock code. Once the game is installed and verified by Steam, players can enter their code and unlock these elite units which will then appear in the single player game.”

Due for release Feb 2009.
